Perry is Perry is a Chicago native who was birthed to Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. Perry made her debut on television in the role of Jackie Harris, a character which was played by her mother in Roseanne, an ABC show Roseanne. But her parents would not permit her to perform until she turned an adult because of the impact stress might affect their child. Perry was shy in high-school and was not a performer. She began acting in the year 2000 at Northwestern University to gain friends when she transferred to the university from Boston University. Perry, after graduating from Boston University moved in New York in search of TV roles. She landed small parts in shows like Law & Order: Criminal Intent. However, homesickness brought her back to California for theater roles. Her mother and she appeared on Broadway together in The Other Place, in 2013. In 2015, she appeared together with Kevin McKidd alongside her mother in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning Drama Anna Christie. The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble is located in West Los Angeles. Perry appeared in 9 episodes of ABC's thriller The Family during 2016. Perry played a prominent role in the ABC drama about politics Scandal which starred her father. She was also cast in the CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon as a version younger than Mary Cooper, Sheldon Cooper's mother. She was cast in the role despite having a close relationship with the character's family.
